Our son Sam was practicing his football on Ashgrove Park as he does most evenings. He came home to show us a card that a lady had given to him with $20 inside congratulating him on his enthusiasm for the sport and telling him to keep it up. Sam was so proud and that meant so much to him. He says he will remember this for the rest of his life how a stranger could be so kind as to make that effort to show him his hard work had not gone unnoticed. That $20 meant he was able to pay off a final installment of a camera he was saving up for and will go to good use. We would sincerely like to thank the lady who did this and let her know we were extremely touched by this gesture and how much it means to Sam. His ambition is to be a professional footballer so if he is lucky enough to achieve this then I am sure his first wage will never be forgotten.
Many thanks

Looking at property and noticed while viewing, had no mobile (Spark) coverage at all, nor had agent (Vodafone). Agent was unable to advise how sellers manage. Agent suggested satellite, but was not sure cost, nor how it works, says landline works fine and Sky, but this does not help with what I want to know. I have no idea how satellite works with existing mobile phone numbers as need to keep same mobile numbers for two businesses, actually have four in house hold, plus need good fast broadband as currently use wireless unlimited data. Considering could put in diversion from mobile to landline if no coverage, but we do use our mobile alot so this would be a pain. Tried to search different plans for satellite, but seemed to be alot of companies in North Island, not as much in Canterbury, nor any actual pricing.

Remember your neighbourhood gets to enjoy those sky rockets too. (Not). Those that have horses or cows, lamas, alpacas and sheep can't take their animals inside and it is distressing to see animals in terror of those loud wooshes and bangs. Better yet don't have them. Go into town and see a real fireworks display or let yours off at a friends place in town and terrorise town animals. They can't get tangled in fences and have thousands of dollars of vet bills.. Please, please , please be a responsible neighbour.

All of NZ’s coastline is at risk from tsunami. Take some time this weekend to make a plan with your family. If your street was evacuated where would you go? What would you take? What about pets? Do you have neighbours who might need your help?

In a local source tsunami we may only have a few minutes warning. Early warning saves lives. Know what to do and where to go. www.happens.nz...
