Linda from Rangiora
Hi on the hunt for someone to do some rural fencing for me as my last one moved away to another district. Any recommendations of a good, reliable contractor in the Rangiora or surrounding areas would be appreciated.

They say Canterbury was designed to replicate the towns and cities familiar with those intrepid settlers who first ploughed New Zealand's fertile soil, and this could not be more true than in the town of Oxford.

How to prepare chestnuts?
Put them flat side down and cut them across (very important) with a sharp knife (if you don't they will explode). Then either
1) Roast them in the oven at 250 degrees for 20 minutes or
2) Boil them in water for 20 minutes or
3) Roast them on the log burner (my personal choice) when it is NOT going at full steam for about 10 to 20 minutes (if too hot they will get burned) and turn them once.
Let them cool a bit, then shell and eat them.
They can also be used as stuffing for poultry or in various dishes with venison, or as a puree with apples or for a cake. On the internet there are plenty of recipes.
Pickup by meeting in the R.D.2 Kaiapoi area. But usually some drop off appointment within reasonable distance of Christchurch/Kaiapoi/Rangiora can be arranged. Please contact me for details.
GST invoice available, please indicate when emailing or texting.
Negotiable

Hey
Is anyone NOT receiving newspapers and circulars? I haven’t had any all year and can’t seem to get hold of anyone about it? Any ideas on what to do? Or anyone else not getting them. What area are you? I’m in Summerhill?
Andrew from Swannanoa - Ohoka
Interesting commentary on the original post - but, just noticed comments were turned off before we got a chance to get to the crux of the matter. Which is: "Why our brains are hard-wired to ignore climate change". The video is just 7 mins long and well worth the watching.
