Are you the executor in a will? Get an estimate before you proceed with probate

Director / lawyer from Kiwilaw

You need probate because your brother had more than $15,000 in Kiwisaver. Your brother's lawyer holds his will. That lawyer says they will get probate for you. That's a relief!

You need probate because your brother had more than $15,000 in Kiwisaver. Your brother's lawyer holds his will. That lawyer says they will get probate for you. That's a relief!

Before you go ahead, ask them what it will cost. (If you don't ask, they don't have to tell you beforehand.)

Ask them whether that includes the High Court fee.

If they say something that totals more than $600, maybe ask them to wait until you get back to them.

Then take a look at our website. (Hint: in most cases, we charge $400, to which you add the High Court fee of $200.)

It's entirely up to you - although, as the executor and trustee of the estate, you do have a duty to act in the best financial interests of the beneficiaries.

All the best

I called Vodafone because my Gmail was no longer showing up on my iphone mail app since I had changed the password. The Vodafone rep could not help me so they told me to call Google for help and gave me an Auckland phone number. I called and the heavily accented man asked me for similar information as Vodafone did (birth date, address, phone number, full name and type of phone) then told me because it was a free gmail account that I was using that I would have to pay $99 to have them correct the problem! This didn't sound right. I consulted my partner and he said it sounded unnecessary and could be a scam. I discontinued the conversation with Google man.
It was a bit of a worry, like a reverse version of those annoying dinner time calls on the landline that insist you have a computer problem, only this was a referral from a Vodafone rep. I spent the next hour checking in with my bank (due to personal info shared), police and netsafe. I also called back Vodafone to report what had happened. In the end they stood by their rep and said it was legitimate, however this time the Vodafone tech said to contact Apple for support. I am sharing this because I would like to know if anyone else has had this issue, not getting their email to come up on their mail App on their iPhone and how they resolved the issue?

About 80% of all new cars come with a similar filter called a cabin air filter. The cabin air filter serves a similar purpose to the filter for your heat pump. It helps keep dust, allergens, and pollutants from coming into the car through the vent system. Cabin Air Filters first appeared in the 1980s but became more prominent around 1995. Many people don’t know their vehicles have these filters.

Cars over time can develop a musty smell inside the cabin. Changing the cabin air filter every 20,000 to 30,000km, like most manufacturers recommend, will help eliminate odors and promote fresh air. The picture shows a dirty cabin air filter we recently pulled from a car. They can be very dirty, especially when they have been in a vehicle for 100,000km.

Cabin air filters generally take only 15 to 20 minutes to replace. They are often located behind or under the dash. Costs vary by manufacturer, but are relatively inexpensive. Since most folks don’t know they have these filters, when they see the dirty one come out of their vehicle, they are excited to replace it. As we head into spring, often using the heat or air conditioning in our cars, make sure you are breathing clean air by having your cabin air filter checked at your next service appointment.
