An ambitious campaign has been launched to get 90 per cent of eligible Cantabrians jabbed by Labour Weekend – in less than four weeks time.
Businesses have thrown their weight behind the plan, which aims to make Canterbury the most Covid-19 protected region in the country.
Among those backing the campaign is Roger Gray, chief executive of Lyttelton Port Company (LPC), who said Cantabrians should “roll-up their sleeves and get vaccinated”.

Justin Salter says lives are at risk if nothing is done about a busy North Canterbury intersection.
The Rangiora resident was involved in a crash at the intersection of Lehmans and Johns roads last October. His car was hit in the side by another travelling between 80 and 100kmh. The crash could have easily been fatal, he said.
He had given way at the intersection and looked left and right, but did not see the oncoming car due to a blind spot, he said.
Salter admitted he was at fault, but believed the intersection was also dangerous.
It had multiple blind spots, including a large tree blocking the view on one side of the intersection, and a large hedge blocking the view on the other side.
There was also a 100kmh speed limit, minimal signage and increasing traffic due to North Canterbury’s booming population.
