I’m looking for a foster home or potentially a new home for my cat Joey, while heading overseas for a few months.

I’m away from 1 May - 1 September this year. All expenses (food, vet, etc) paid during this time.

Joey is a very loving cat and needs lots of attention. He is almost like a dog, following us around wherever we go.

He would be the perfect companion for someone that is at home a lot and would like a dog, but can’t because of walking difficulties. He even plays with soft toys and carries them around!

He is 2 years old, an indoor/ outdoor cat, fully vaccinated and in perfect health. Please get in touch if you would like to foster him or are potentially happy to adopt him fully depending on how you get on together. Thanks, Kristin

1. Scrape food scraps off plates into the bin (not down the sink)
2. Put fat, oil and grease into the bin too
3. Use drain strainers to catch food residue in the kitchen and hair/fibres/soap scum in the bathroom & laundry
4. Run just hot water in sinks and showers at least once a week to prevent a build-up of dirt and residues
5. Only flush The Three P's (pee, poo and paper) down your toilet

If your drain gets blocked, avoid using harsh chemicals as these can damage your plumbing system over time. Contact your local Master Plumber for a professional service: www.masterplumbers.org.nz...

Hi Neighbours, are you interested in bringing a new culture into your home? Host an AFS Global Prep student, experience another culture, and share your culture in return. Students arrive in July and we need friendly Wellington families.

Global Prep programmes give 15 to 18-year olds opportunities to focus on projects such as sustainability, conservation and human rights. The student will attend activities during the day.

Families are paid $300 a week towards any expenses and provide accommodation and meals.

If you’re interested, please click here, or call 0800 600 300 or email Joanna.holm@afs.org.

Anyone know where I can get some swan plants please?

Patricia from Kelburn

I know this has been a mantra this summer but, even with only putting our 12 (very large) swan plants out late in the Monarch season, and wiping quite a few eggs off leaves, we still have lots of hungry caterpillars and only a few leaves left. Does anyone know of anywhere still supplying swan … View moreI know this has been a mantra this summer but, even with only putting our 12 (very large) swan plants out late in the Monarch season, and wiping quite a few eggs off leaves, we still have lots of hungry caterpillars and only a few leaves left. A moment of silence

The Team from Wellington Water

Today, our Wellington Water whānau gathered at our Petone offices to reflect on the recent events in Christchurch. This illustration by Kiwi artist Erin-Monique O’Brien is a lovely way of showing how we can reach across the water and offer our aroha to all those affected.
