It’s an important part of the investigation work for the proposed Cross Harbour Pipeline, which aims to provide Wellington with an alternative water supply.
Some of the work needs to be done at night and the crew are focused on minimising the level of noise. The barge has also had acoustic curtains fitted to reduce noise levels (not pictured), which have been tested and fit within the District Plan limits. We’ll continue to monitor noise levels.
We apologise for any inconvenience while we are doing these important investigations.

Please expect some delays and diversions to bus services in the area.
Temporary bus stops will be installed on Wright Street which can be accessed from Wallace Street via a walkway.
To ease congestion in the area Route 27 services will not be stopping at Hutchinson Terminus. Route 27 will travel from Vogeltown along Hutchison Road directly onto Wright Street, bypassing the Hutchison Terminus, and vice versa.
The school bus Route 770 afternoon service will be diverted via Adelaide Road, this is consistent with the existing Route 770 morning service.
