Chris Parker is the outspoken, witty and charming personality famous for his charismatic sketches of life in lockdown. Since then, he has been crowned the winner of Celebrity Treasure Island, had his lockdown felting project bought by Auckland Museum, featured on the latest season of Taskmaster and performed sold-out stand-up shows across NZ. His insights on life as a larger than life openly gay, unapologetically camp man in Aotearoa will have you laughing and relating.
His new book allows readers to take Chris home with them for a pick-me-up whenever they need it. He will be in conversation with Nick Holm senior lecturer in Media Studies at Massey University

Soft furnishings: It’s easy to remember to wipe down hard surfaces, but the often-overlooked soft furnishings in our homes also need some TLC.
Keep an eye on the weather forecast and plan a sunny day to wash couch cushions, blankets, rugs or curtains that could be harbouring dust and bacteria.
Most of us wash the pillowcases on our beds, but the pillows themselves can harbor dust mites and fungi. It’s generally recommended you wash your pillow every two to six months – how to do so depends on its materials, so check the care label.
Clean your heat pump: You can clean your heat pump filter in less than 10 minutes using your vacuum cleaner and brush attachment. If you’re steadily blasting it throughout winter and summer, you should be cleaning it at least four times a year to ensure it’s working smoothly and to enhance its performance.
Windows and doors
After a damp winter, it pays to check the not-so-noticeable corners of your home. Windows and doors need regular maintenance to keep them in good working order and to avoid the likes of rot and corrosion. Look for signs such as chalky surfaces, condensation, mould growth, corroded fixings and blocked drain outlets – all indicate it’s time for a spring clean.
Take extra care not to damage the coating when cleaning coated or specialised glass – follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
The dos and don'ts of donating clothing: As the time comes to swap our winter clothes for more summery attire, sift through your wardrobe for items you haven’t worn in more than a year. Unless it’s a special-occasion piece, chances are you’re not going to be reaching for it any time soon.
Depending on the quality and value of the garments, you may want to sell them online or through a consignment store to earn some cash. If not, you can donate to your local op shop or clothing bin.

The event is an initiative of Ian Logan, an artist, musician and long-time gallery curator both in Wellington and in the UK, and members of the Ukrainian Association of NZ (Wellington Region). A sense of outrage at the suffering inflicted by the Russian invasion on the old, the very young and the helpless was the catalyst behind the exhibition, starting with Ian's original donation of a painting in solidarity with the local Ukrainians, which then developed into the idea of a full-scale exhibition involving artists that he knew and admired.
The proceeds from the sale of the exhibited works will go to the largest children's hospital in Ukraine – the Ohmadyt Hospital in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Appropriately enough the exhibition is being held in the serene and historical Home of Compassion complex in Island Bay. Their beautiful exhibition space, The Ryan Room, will be the main area for showing the range of art work with realist and abstract paintings, textile based work as well as a number of sculpture pieces.
The exhibition has no entry fee and will run from Sunday 9th October to Sunday 16th October, from 9am to 3pm each day at the Ryan Room, Home of Compassion, 2 Rhine Street, Island Bay, Wellington.
Accessing and exiting the complex by vehicle is via one-way driveways. When entering, take the left-hand one-way driveway. There is a signposted visitors carpark available. When exiting by car follow the 'Exit' signs on the one-way driveway.
To find the Ryan Room where the exhibition is, proceed to the building entrance marked 'Reception'. The Ryan Room is down the hall to the right of the reception desk.
For those with a taste for good coffee, the Home of Compassion also has their Cloisters Cafe open from Tuesday to Friday 9am-3pm. The cafe is outside the door of the exhibition room.
