It treats over 1,000 birds a year, taking in all types of native and non-native birds who have been injured or orphaned. This includes over 80 injured Kererū brought in annually by the community.
These big birds are much-loved and seen in increasing numbers in suburban areas, but unfortunately are often injured by cars, window strike, power lines, and by predators such as rats and stoats.

Our ‘strawesome’ events raise $80,000 (that's over 13,000 sundaes!) of crucial funds for Mary Potter Hospice. However this year, due to COVID-19 we’ve had to cancel our series of berrylicous events.

Several busy Wellington streets could be blocked to cars as part of a proposal presented to Wellington City Council next week for a low-traffic central city.
It suggests Dixon St and Ghuznee St could both be “snipped” to remove through traffic between Taranaki St and The Terrace.
Victoria St could also be changed, with no traffic between Manners St and Wakefield St, and a possible service lane in the southbound direction.
If tamariki are injured in an accident anywhere in Aotearoa, ACC is here to support them until they can get back to everyday life – including financial support for medical services, care and equipment.
