From species monitoring to predator management and forest regeneration, our expert rangers work hard to ensure that vulnerable species like the tītipounamu/rifleman will still be here spreading into neighbouring forests and your backyards for generations to come.

But, we need your help to continue. Your donation will support our conservation and infrastructure teams to keep the valley safe and help the wildlife to thrive! Please donate today.

Photographer Louise Thomas made a visit to Bushy Park, prior to lockdown. Now that we are all at home, please feel free to post a picture of the birds you have in your garden.

"Bush robins/toutouwai (Petroica longipes) have an open heart, they roam tramping tracks without fear because it doesn’t occur to them to be afraid. They have no armour on their personalities. If they were humans they would help you change your tyre and laugh about the experience.
They will stand on your shoes if you sit too long. And rummage inquiringly while you unpack your pack. I read once that the open-hearted will inherit the Earth. I hope it’s true – that it is better to be possibly hurt than hardened. But the open-hearted are often preyed upon by the ambitious. It might be why the robin is at risk and declining – he’s just a little too trusting of those that would eat him. Bushy Park, July 2021."

Hey all,
We have been hosting the COVID Vaccination Clinic in Kilbirnie for the past 4 and a bit weeks, with the plan to go until sometime in January 2022. However, with the good also brings the bad, and this morning we were hit with our 3rd defacing of property.
I am all good with 'Freedom of Speech' but when doing so, please don't deface property that costs tax payers and rate payers to remove the paint.
The first incident happened on August 2nd, followed by August 14th and then todays incident (August 24th)
Please review the images below and please if you know these people, advise them on the right way to get their message across, and also advise them that this mornings incident would not have been classed as an Essential Service, or an Essential Needs, or anything Essential, based on that, not only are they breaking the law by defacing property, but they are also breaking the law by being out at that time. Also, if you know these people, please ask them to stop doing what they are doing, as I have now submitted these images to the Police, and the Police would like to speak with them

Please don't put out your glass crates

Simone Borgstede from Wellington City Council

Kia ora koutou,

Just a wee reminder that glass will NOT be collected while we are in Level 4.

The Delta variant is highly transmissible, and glass recycling is predominantly bottles which may carry saliva residue.

Please do not put your glass crate out for now 💚

All regions outside of the Auckland and Northland region will move to Alert Level 3 11.59pm Tuesday August 31.

In a press conference Friday afternoon, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern confirmed that Auckland and Northland will likely need to complete a further full two weeks at level 4 in order to keep the Delta variant from spreading further in the regions.

Here's what you need to know
- There will be regional boundaries, there will be no travel allowed between regions unless required for essential services.
- Boundaries maintained in the last February lockdown will be reinstated.
- Around 500 locations of interest have been identified.
- The exposure site in Warkworth is a large workplace. Ardern hoped the people of Northland will understand why they're moving with caution. Northland won't always be grouped in with Auckland.
