Maia was only 12 (2017) when she developed the idea for Lazy Sneakers. All she had was a passion to help others and a family to back her. Since the project has started, she has been able to provide sneakers for children, student athletes, families and social services.
MISSION
Lazy Sneakers is a sneaker bank project collecting reusable good conditioned sneakers from the community and then distributing these sneakers for FREE so people can play, participate and reach their potential.

Crews have now temporarily reinstated the road and footpath with asphalt, and has been made safe for regular traffic.
Later in the evening the crew will de-establish the site completely for the weekend.
We will be back on site next week to finalise reinstatement of road and footpath.
Thanks to the crews who have been on site working hard to repair the burst main. Water is now back on.

Crews have just advised that the TSB Arena and Shed 5 on Queens Wharf are also impacted by the water outage.
Businesses are being contacted to check in on all affected and are also being provided with water.

The burst has resulted in dislodged silt covering the footpath in the surrounding area.
Our crews are cleaning this up as quick as possible - but we do ask pedestrians to take an alternate route while we reinstate the impacted footpaths and clean the area.

We are experiencing a burst main in Jervois Quay near Hunter Street in the Wellington CBD this morning. As a result water has been shutdown, which at this stage is only affecting two properties (see picture).

As a result water has been shutdown, which at this stage is only affecting two properties (see picture).
We have no expected time frame on how long this outage will last, however we will provide an update on this as soon as possible. In the meantime, crews will be providing water to impacted customers. Toilets can be used across the road in nearby buildings that aren't impacted.
This work has closed off the exit from Hunter Street onto Jervos Quay - please use an alternate route. We will advise of further traffic impact as the work continues.

Emily and Lizzie (pictured with the Governor-General Dame Patsy Reddy) attended a Commonwealth Day event at Parliament. The theme was "Sustainable Future" expressing the need for NZ to be kaitiaki for our smaller Pacific Commonwealth neighbours in this environmental climate.
