The Vinnies Welfare & Service hub transforms into a festive toy shop over December. Unwrapped, donated gifts for children aged 0 – 16 years, are displayed for whānau to come and choose from.

Throughout the month of November and December, we will be collecting gifts for the Merry Vinnies Toy Shop.
To make sure we can meet the need from our community, we are calling on families, corporate teams, businesses, clubs and individuals to donate gifts.

Improvements to the existing Hutt Road pedestrian crossing near Rangiora Avenue in Kaiwharawhara were last made nearly 20 years ago when it was converted to a two-stage pedestrian crossing. With the greater volume of traffic, there is a need to create better visibility of this crossing for both road users and pedestrians.
We are doing this by installing static and electronic warning signs and road markings and aim to complete the works with minimal disruption to the community.

Staff will be available to offer advice and help find out if your property could get funding assistance.

The Downer NZ team will start on the city side of Greta Point and work back towards the city as far as Weka Bay. Stop/go traffic management, and a 30km/h speed limit will be in place Mondays to Fridays, 9am-4pm.
Please take extra care walking, running, biking, scooting and driving through this area. Work will take about 8 months.
The improvements are part of Tahitai, the biking and walking route from the east that has been taking shape at Ōmarukaikuru/Pt Jerningham, and along the Kilbirnie foreshore next to Cobham Drive.
They will also form part of Te Aranui o Pōneke/the Great Harbour Way. For information, visit
