Forecast: Severe northwest gales have eased, however, northerlies remain strong and could approach severe gale for a time in exposed places until evening.
November 8: Severe northwesterly gales gusting to 130 km/h in exposed places were forecast for Wellington and the Wairarapa until 11pm tonight.
MetService warned that wind gusts could damage trees, power lines and unsecured structures. It says driving may be hazardous, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.

The book began with an oral history project for the New Zealand Society of Authors, that was funded by an Award in Oral History in 2015. The history project was to record the stories of senior members of the New Zealand literary community:
