Cheap/Free Timber Wanted
Hi Neighbours,
I'm trying to source some cheap/free timber for a hobby project. I want to try making a backyard axe throwing target.
Rather than spending a fortune at a building supply place for new timber, I'm hoping people in the community will have some suitable stuff lying around that they don't want.
I'm mainly looking for thick boards/planks, ideally with the following minimum dimensions (thicker, wider or longer is fine):
40mm (4cm) thick
200mm (20cm) wide
1200mm (1.2m)
long
It doesn't matter if the timber is treated/untreated, wet, weathered, dirty, painted, has nails/nail holes, etc, as long as it's not riddled with bora or rot. It's going to have axes hurled at it repeatedly so it needs to be solid.
Pine would be ideal but any other type of natural wood should be OK.
I may be able to work with timber of slightly different dimensions and I'm also keen on any other timber I can use to construct a stand/frame or use as backing for the target boards (e.g. plywood sheets, weatherboards).
So, if you have any timber you'd like to get rid of, let me know what you've got and what you want for it. If it sounds like something I can potentially use I'll consider it.
Cheers! :-)
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?
An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.
When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
