Figures from the council's consultation show of 254 people who made submissions on the matter, 71 per cent supported the lower limit.
Councillor Simon Woolf said the nest step would be for the proposal to go to the strategy & policy committee.
A 30kmh speed limit in the Marsden Village and Karori shopping areas would bring them in-line with other town (suburb) centres, Woolf said.
The proposal is part of an on-going council programme to lower speed limits in suburban areas. It has been running since 2009.
Between 2014 and 2018 there were 11 instances of drivers hiitting pedestrians and cyclists resulting in injury.
The majority of submitters who opposed the lower limit were concerned it would contribute to congestion.

We have some goalie gear to give away. Probably not a complete set but still in good condition. My daughter still plays goalie but has grown out of this set.
