Labour Weekend Sunday 27th - Community Open Day at Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre
Coming to the Wairarapa this long weekend? Come along to the Community Open Day on Sunday (10am till 4pm entry by koha) - Pūkaha Rangers will give free guided tours and talks and local iwi, Rangitāne o Wairarapa, will hold carving and weaving demonstrations. There'll be heaps of kid's activities running such as rock painting, kiwi art making, seed bomb making to attract insects, mini insect hotel making to re-home garden insects, plus field talks on subjects such as “which eggs belong to which birds?”. Specialist storytellers will read to children and tell stories about native wildlife.
What a neat day at a neat place - Pūkaha is just 20 minutes north of Masterton. Come and join the fun.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?
An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.
When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
