Hi all
Thought i might pop a long to council chit chat about joining the cycle lane from the south end of wakefield park to berhampore . Never really voiced my opinion before , have been here all my life for 63 years .
So couldn't get a park, so parked up by the Home of Compassion . If you go to the councils website and look at this proposal, you will see a picture of the layout , two things instantly got my heckles up , firstly all the parks on the northbound side of the road have gone , secondly there is a bus stop in the traffic lane ??? Had a little chat with the clowns to confirm this diagram was correct, So i asked if a bus stops does that stop all of the traffic , yes he replied , the buses stop the traffic all over wellington, i replied ,no they don't , this is in the moving lane ( look at the council image )
Anyway angry and overwhelmed with frustration , i left ! I then walked 500m to my vehicle and continued to drive up the parade in a northerly direction , i counted 46 parked vehicals on the side of the proposed bike lane .
These were parents from probably teams , outside of the bay, and for some bay people, that bikeing is just not an option ,
furthermore , if this proposel goes ahead, all the kids now have to cross the road !!!!
Please note : while i spent 10 mins finding a park i saw 1 cyclist !
Again our infulstructure does not support bike lanes - the cyclists cause more emissions due to the traffic burning up fuel in slowing and speeding up to get passed them . And the thought of carrying your baby on a bike . NO
Sorry to go on, but my heart goes out to all those north of wakefeid park ,along with businesses owners , to loose your park, either in front of your home or outside your business must be devastating .
