Right now we’re constructing several of the 22 water stations around the region.
Our teams got together with Wellington Region Emergency Management Office (WREMO) and the four city councils last week to develop operational plans for distributing water from these sites.
A visit to our pilot site at Korokoro was a great opportunity to view equipment, and gave councils more insight on how the emergency water supply will work.
For more information about where the water stations will be and how they will operate check out wellingtonwater.co.nz...
Remember, the water stations will only operate from day 8 following an earthquake.
For the first 7 days you will be relying on your own stored water at home. You need 20 litres of stored water for every person, every day – for at least 7 days.

To celebrate the completion of a four year restoration of the National War Memorial Carillon we invite you to Pukeahu to hear National Carillonist, Timothy Hurd QSM, playing the Carillon bells– all 74 of them (but probably not at the same time!) at a series of free recitals. Spice up your weekday lunchtime or Sunday afternoon with the sounds of the Carillon.
As the Carillon is best heard from outside, we recommend you bring a coat to wrap up warm for the recitals as we will keep calm and ‘carillon’ rain or shine!

Without exception, every road we went down had dog poo on the footpath - Hataitai, Huia, Waipapa, Arawa. And one poor person had about three dumps on the grass verge at the front of their property. This just isn't acceptable. People tread in this stuff specially as daylight hours shorten.
All dog owners should carry poo bags - and use them. And it's no excuse to say you didn't see it - your dog shouldn't be out loose or out of your sight.
The vast majority of dog owners do the right thing. To the ones who don't - please clean up your act, be a decent neighbour and a responsible dog owner.

The current “harden up, stay staunch and let’s not talk about it” attitude is a problem. By changing this attitude, lives will be saved. Every dollar raised enables Mike to continue his vital work with communities across NZ.
The Appliance Shed is leading a fundraising campaign to support Mike King's Key To Life Trust. Read more about the long-standing relationship Appliance Shed has with Mike King here
The Key to Life Trust equips our nation's young people to check in on their mates and remind them it’s okay to ask for help. It’s important we all feel valued and know that someone has our backs when times are tough. Please donate and make a difference in your community.
