It will mean a representative from each of Wellington’s two iwi – Te Āti Awa Taranaki Whānui and Ngāti Toa Rangatira – is appointed to all of the council’s committees and subcommittes by July next year.

Iwi representatives will be paid and have voting rights except at meetings of the full council, which can overturn decisions made by council committees.

The Wellington Marathon has been cancelled following the announcement the region would stay in level 2.

Event manager Michael Jacques, said the decision to cancel was disappointing, especially for the runners who had been training, but they needed to turn their attention to the 2021 event.

The 2250 registered runners would not be receiving a refund, but would be able to enter for free next year.

Jacques said the decision to cancel was "especially gutting" as it was the 35th anniversary of the marathon, which is the longest running running event in Wellington.

So Tomorrow is the day!

The tamariki have been making art, learning about colors and changing colors and on Monday some of us wore funny glasses.

We today have started decorating the foyer in anticipation for tomorrow.

If tamariki can please dress in YELLOW, ORANGE OR RED (or dress up) that will add to the fun.

If whanau are in a position to donate to the collection box in the foyer (in the bookshelf, grab a daffodil as well).

BALLOONS, STICKERS and TATTOOS will be available for the tamariki tomorrow in their classrooms

We are grateful for your support with this fundraiser.

Inspired by traditional poi, it has been adapted by Dr Kate Riegle van West to be a safe and effective exercise, especially for older populations. On top of the usual benefits of exercise, typically people will see improvements in grip strength, attention, focus, balance and coordination. For more information on SpinPoi, and to see people playing with poi, go to www.spinpoi.com...

I am currently taking a class on Zoom on Wednesday afternoons, but am looking into more Zoom classes and possibly a class at the Kilbirnie Community Centre (KCC) when we go back to Level 1.

I also take a seated exercise class on a Monday that's suitable for people with arthritis or anyone who can't exercise standing up. This class is endorsed by Arthrtis NZ as suitable for people with arthritis, and by Live Stronger for Longer as an entry level Strength and Balance class for seniors.

At the moment, I'm putting out feelers to get an idea of who might be interested in taking a class, and what times would be suitable.

Current class times (both about 50 minutes):
o Monday, KCC, 10.30 - seated exercise class (during lockdown, later time on Zoom)
o Wednesday, Zoom, 2pm - SpinPoi class (seated or standing)

Other possible times for SpinPoi:
o Tuesday - Zoom, 2pm or 6pm OR KCC, 2pm
o Thursday - Zoom, 2pm or 6pm OR KCC, start any time between 2pm and 5pm

I am also open to using other venues or to combining poi with other seated exercises. Tell me what you need!

If you think you might be interested, or want more information, either reply here or message me.

Hope to hear from some of you. Playing with poi is a lot of fun!
