I am not sure where Chilli is from but her owner Joy is very proud of her.
"This is my 25year old Chinchilla called Chilli. She is a Standard grey colour, and she is the sweetest wee girl, who loves her cuddles and snuggles with Mum, and loves pats and tickles from all of our family. Its very very rare to have a Chinchilla who loves to be touched as much as she does. She is a rescue who came from people who didn't know how to properly care for her. Her favorite treats are dried Red rose petals, dried rose buds and most of all, her Apple sticks. I love her so much."

"I was going to leave the tūī for my checklist until the kowhai or flax were flowering later in the year - you know, for the poses, but this guy just about landed on my lap in the Herb Garden at the Wellington Bot Gardens - he's on a stake by the curry plant, which funnily enough, really smells like curry. He was singing up a storm in the pine trees before swooping down for a quick sniff. Bird #83 in 2022."

I melt the hearts of everyone … View more“Hi, I'm Grandma Peggy. I am a very loveable, sweet and gorgeous old girl. Since I arrived here at the SPCA, I have been in foster care with my lovely foster mum, who has showered me with love and affection, and has allowed me to let my personality flourish. I melt the hearts of everyone whenever they come in to see me, even my caregivers. My favourite things to do during my day, is to sleep outside on my bed on the verandah (even when it's a bit chilly), and when it's sunny, I like to follow the sun. I would love to go to a home where there may be a big backyard I can lay in during the day (when I'm allowed outside), or somewhere that gets a lot of sun during the day. Because of my long fur, I will need help maintaining it, especially as I get older. Luckily I enjoy having my fur brushed. I will love to be able to spend time with my new family during the day, helping out in the garden, or sitting with you on the couch watching a movie together. Because I am an older girl, I do have arthritis. This means that my joints can sometimes be a bit stiff. I may not do well in a home with a lot of stairs, and I may eventually need help getting up onto things. If you have room in your home and heart for me to live out my retirement years, please make an appointment to come in and meet me. I do come with medical waivers my new family will need to be made aware of, but we can chat about this when you come to meet me “

Like all Rotarians, we share the ideal epitomised in the Rotary motto, “Service above Self”, and, like Rotarians everywhere, we translate our passions into relevant social causes to change lives and make lasting improvements locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
Our club was chartered in May 1982. This, our 40th anniversary year, is an opportunity to reflect on, and celebrate, the Club’s many activities and achievements over the years. Here is one such achievement:
Probus Clubs
In 1991, our Club, together with the Rotary Club of Wellington, established the Probus Club of Karori, which now meets each month at the Wilton Bowling Club.
The basic objective of Probus is to advance intellectual and cultural interests, promote healthy minds and active bodies through social interaction, and enjoy the fellowship of new friends.
At its first meeting, members voted for the Karori Probus Club to be a combined men’s and women’s club, making it the first ‘mixed’ club in the District.
Membership grew very quickly and, within a short time, reached 120 members. Within a few years, it became obvious that there was unfulfilled demand in Karori and a decision was made to form a second club, the Probus Club of Marsden.
Today, these two Probus Clubs have a combined membership of some 160 members and are more relevant than ever, thanks in no small way to the continuing efforts of charter, and still active, member of the Rotary Club of Karori, Douglas Langford.
Applications for membership are always welcome.
