However it's my impression that it's something that one needs to register for and it operates on the mobile phone networks. I've just had a call on our landline from a very well-spoken ordinary English/Kiwi-sounding woman warning about some sort of emergency. We're not registered for any such system and as I didn't trust it, I hung up immediately. Has anyone else had this type of call? I'm used to the ones purportedly from Spark or Microsoft warning of computer gloom and doom, but one suggesting pending natural disaster is new to me.
