These were deemed earthquake prone by WCC. Currently, WCC do not have sufficient funds to rebuild them (although that is the intention in the future). It was decided by WCC that it was better to completely demolish them now and have a vacant site (and re-build later) than ongoing security and external upkeep. It is hoped that shortly - when fully clear - the bare site will be able to be used by building contractors working on the refurbishment and redesign of the neighbouring Brooklyn School, reducing construction traffic/vehicles in the suburban streets.
