We're working together with Holmes Construction to build nine new homes and strengthen the existing retaining walls on the property.
These flats were vacated in April 2017 as they were earthquake-prone. The people living there were found new homes within our City Housing portfolio elsewhere in the city. Development of this site offers the opportunity to provide more modern social housing for Pōneke.
We look forward to seeing their progress over the next few months!

I walk beautifully on a lead but in saying that I would need a home that can handle me as I can be strong when I want. I have had a fair amount of training from my previous home but there is always room for more growth. I am super smart and a lover of all yummy foods so will pick up new things very quickly. I can be shy when meeting new people so I would love a quiet patient home that can read when I am not comfortable. A home with no children. I could live with an older settled male dog but in saying this I am used to having my own space. I am not suited to a home with cats or any small animals."

Two are privately run on (mostly) council (ie ratepayer) land. But the main one is… View moreSouthern landfill - seeking an extension to the Resource consent. Manty of you will be familiar with our ongoing commentary about he three landfills located to the south of Brooklyn - between Brooklyn and Owhiro Bay. Two are privately run on (mostly) council (ie ratepayer) land. But the main one is the WCC run and managed Careys Gully/Southern Landfill. It resource consent runs out in 2025 and the council is going to the community seeking guidance and clarity here. There are five options ranging from: simply continuing with it to closing the landfill completely. I suspect most will reluctantly want the landfill to continue but now is an ideal opportunity to advocate for tighter operational controls - fitting with what we do in the twenty first century - and then look to the other two landfills where there Resource Consents will be coming up for review and renewal in the next year or so.

Please note that since we last emailed you, an alternative approach for residual waste disposal decisions has been proposed. You can read more about this in the agenda document.
How to stay informed. You are welcome to attend the Infrastructure Committee via Zoom, and can apply to speak at the meeting if you wish. Find out more here.

"Artemis (or Arty) has done an amazing job at settling in. She's super curious and interested in everything going on - I've never had a cat who watches TV before and attacks it! She especially loves it when my boyfriend plays Call of Duty, she gets very involved. She also loves to play a lot and she's not fussy at all with toys.
This week especially she's started vocalising a with me a lot, she chirps and brrrrs away at me while purring up a storm. She's so cuddly! She loves to be carried all over the house and snuggle up on my shoulders. At night after she's finished her zoomies, she likes to sneak in under the blankets to be the little spoon. We're very happy with her, and she seems to be very happy in her new home too."
