So, I am posting this more as a funny story rather than anything else. After a lot of research we brought a brand new washing machine from a reputable popular appliance store.

After only a couple of months it started having problems. We contacted the store and after three months, at first the sote manager said the brand we bought "doenst work on wooden floors" OMG really?. As you would expect I did say to her that nearly every house in NZ has a wooden floor. I wont go into the discussion after that it was nonsense.

A month after their contracted appliance service provider contacted us asking us the probem. Then after a couple more months they came to look at the machine. The repairman said he couldnt see what the problem with it was as everything he looked at showed it to be a brand new machine. He said that even though he didnt see a problem he would replace some parts, which he did a month later. After a week nothing had improved. So we contacted the popular aplliance store and told them nothing had improved.

Then the manager said " The problem is the machine doesnt work on wooden floors!!

I was rolling on the floor seriously!!

Regardless they are replacing it still but still saying the machine is fine if not on wooden floors.

Here's a wee bit of a throwback to life under lockdown. Check out how this couple in Motueka helped out their neighbours who were new to the area. Have you got an unsung hero in your neighbourhood? You can make your nominations here!

"We have a lovely young couple across the road from us at number 13, Glenaven Drive, called Kirsty and Jeremy. We have recently moved to Motueka and they have been very helpful and friendly right from the start. During Lockdown they did shopping for us and let us have soil from their excavations for our garden improvements. Later on, they have given us lemons, gave spare concrete when they had some delivered for themselves and watered our plants when we were able to go away and visit our new grandchild. They are gems and have made us really happy that we've chosen Motueka as our home."

Our Terracycle Recycing Centre is back in business at Level 1 with a few new safety precautions*.

*We are no longer able to accept dental products and yoghurt suckies that aren’t WASHED and DRIED with hot soapy water.

Due to the nature of a product you put in your mouth to use we can’t risk ourselves or the staff at the recycling centre.
PLEASE WASH AND DRY all these items before dropping them off.

The best way to do this is to pop toothbrushes in the top rack of your dishwasher and cut the toothpaste and yoghurt pouches at the base and let the tap run through them and then add to a sink of hot water and dish soap to remove any germs.

I am sad to say Fonterra are no longer funding recycling of their products. The Collective brand will still be recycling their own containers and suckies.

For more information about any of the recycling schemes please take a look at the posters I have attached or feel free to contact me with any questions at predatorfreelyallbay@gmail.com

Don't forget we now recycle plastic writing instruments (that's pens, markers and mechanical pencils) so maybe set up a collection at your workplace and help save the environment, your school/work and help Predator Free Lyall Bay.

Thank you!
