The grill and oven works fine.
Maybe still useful for a student kitchen!

We spoke with his about his process to keep his lawn beautiful and there may be some blades of advice for your own backyard.
Mark has a huge backyard so during Covid times, he decided to renovate the lawn and garden just for something to do. It’s turned into a passion.
His lawn is 100% rye grass - sourced from Prebble Seeds Turf World who supply many golf courses around New Zealand. In the summer he mows it every 2-3 days, sometimes daily, and waters the lawn with a deep soak of about an hour at a time, 2-3 times a week. He uses a granular slow release lawn fertiliser and other liquid fertilisers also.
Mark shares:
'I would say the secret to getting a good lawn is consistent mowing - at least twice a week. Maybe buy a bulk bag of slow release lawn fertiliser from a wholesaler. Keep the grass longer and just take the very top off the blade when you mow. It promotes growth, thickens it up and will really help with stopping weeds - oh, and water. Expect a water bill if you want a good lawn.'
The first photo below shows the 'Before' shot, 4 years ago. Give Mark a Like on this post if you think his lawn is pretty top notch!

It's a debate that resurfaces each year as weather hits its peak just as kids head back to school.
Traditionally, we've paired the school holidays in NZ with the Christmas period, but would a shift to February make more sense for everyone?

Subject: [9522] 29/01/2025: Street light outages across Brooklyn, Wellington
Good morning Wellington Electricity,
We (GBRAI) are aware that across the city, there have been blocks of street lights where there have been outages. Greater Brooklyn Residents Association Inc specifically advocates for residents in the Brooklyn to Kingston area of south Wellington.
For the last two weeks, we have had street lights out in various areas (currently Reuben Avenue, parts of Ohiro Road and there are several other streets that I need to get more information on). When will these be fixed and operating normally?
We have our own email database, Facebook and Neighbourly pages and would like to convey to citizens and residents the actions Wellington Electricity is taking to get these outages resolved. We would appreciate confirmation of this email and an update / updates on sorting these outages and how they are going to be resolved and the timeframe please.
As Brooklyn is a hilly area with substantial native bush and trees on many streets, when the street lights go out, parts of the streets resemble the bottom of a coal mine (very dark) so there are safety issues simply walking on the streets as well as - for some citizens - concerns over their personal safety.
Your comments will be appreciated
Yours sincerely,
Carl Savage

Hi Carl,
Thank you for your patience while we investigated this.
Wellington Electricity owns and operates the electricity network that supplies power to streetlights, which are owned and operated by local Councils. Streetlights in the Brooklyn area are the responsibility of Wellington City Council (WCC), and any faults need to be raised with them. They can then check whether the fault is with the streetlight itself, or with the network power supply to the light. If a network fault is confirmed, Council will ask Wellington Electricity to attend.
In this instance, we can confirm our contractors have been investigating faults which have occurred recently in several streets in Brooklyn with faulty streetlights. They’ve identified two primary causes for these faults.
Firstly, there are trees and branches in the area which have been impacting the power supply lines. They’re on council land so WCC will need to arrange for them to be trimmed.
Secondly, there are a number of overhead power supply lines which need to be replaced. The trees and branches will need to be trimmed back before we can replace those lines.
We understand the importance of working streetlights for your community and take your safety concerns very seriously. Although we’re unable to provide an exact timeframe, our team is working with WCC on a plan to resolve the issue as quickly and as safely as possible. In the meantime, we’ve made some temporary changes to increase the number of lights which remain working in the area.
We appreciate your patience as we work with WCC to restore your streetlights and apologise for the inconvenience caused.
Kind regards,
Customer Experience Specialist
