The robbery of Black Bull Liquor in Dublin St happened just before 5pm on Saturday, July 7, when a male armed with a hammer entered the store.

The robbery of Black Bull Liquor in Dublin St happened just before 5pm on Saturday, July 7, when a male armed with a hammer entered the store.
Singh said there had been several instances of shoplifting at the store in recent weeks and these had been reported to police but not followed up.
Whanganui Police Detective Sergeant David Thompson said police were called to the store at 4.52pm on Saturday after a male with a hammer demanded cash.
"An amount of cash was taken but no one was hurt," Thompson said.
"The offender left on a bicycle in the direction of Harrison St and then to the Glasgow St area."
Police have conducted a scene examination and are reviewing CCTV footage. They are appealing for sightings of a male, who was wearing a red hat, on a bicycle around 5pm on Sunday.

The city's sole supplier ran out and when an order for more with a commercial printer was accidentally placed on back-order, thousands of Whanganui residents turned to social media to complain and ask which retailers had stickers available.
The answer: not many, and perhaps none.
But there is good news: Private waste collection company Waste Management who issue the stickers says normal service has resumed.
New supplies of stickers were delivered to retailers on Monday and Tuesday and most should now have stocks.

ASB is aware of a current SMS ('smishing') scam where people have been sent a text message pretending to be from the bank. The 'smishing' SMS contains a link that once clicked prompts the person to provide personal information and a wide range of details such as login details and their Netcode.
ASB wants to remind everyone that legitimate messages from any bank would never ask customers to supply personal information, login details or second-factor identification.
