The European Parliament has already voted to abolish daylight saving from 2021, due to studies that highlighted the connection between daylight saving and health issues.
For some, having more daylight hours is beneficial, but for others, it can really interrupt their sleep cycle.

This month also coincides with International Day of Disaster Reduction on October 13th and New Zealand’s national earthquake drill and tsunami hikoi, ShakeOut, on Thursday, October 17th at 1.30pm.

Now is a great time to check fire alarm batteries and make sure emergency supplies are well stocked and up to date.
School holidays start on Friday and there have already been sightings of cars with boats and surfboards flooding into Northland. What is the traffic like where you are? What do you think about holidaymakers coming north?
