Alan Dall says it has been an incredibly stressful 16 months since the Hurunui District Council ordered his tiny home be demolished or comply with the Building Act.

He had applied for a determination from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) to determine his caravan was not a building, but it sided with the council.

He appealed MBIE's decision and finally got his day in court on Tuesday. By Thursday, he was celebrating the judge's decision – that his home is indeed a vehicle.

Who wouldn’t want to show up to play in flash shoes like these? Customise a fresh pair of footwear or fancy up some old favourites – while covering up scuff marks – with nothing more than a few Resene testpots, artist’s brushes and a bit of good quality masking tape.

If your kids are little, you can help mask off any of the harder parts – such as around the soles – that you want to keep paint off of and remove laces, if there are any. You can even use this idea to makeover adult shoes that never get worn because the colour doesn’t go with anything.

Make the most of this weekend with this easy step by step project idea from Resene.

My boyfriend qualified his horse (a standardbred) to compete at Horse of the Year (which is being held in Hastings from the 9th March) for the first time ever. He thought he had a major sponsor organised but it looks to have fallen through. He does still have two smaller sponsors however the costs to travel up and accommodate himself and horse are in excess of $2500.00. A number of bookings have been made and deposits paid which now need to be paid in full. Is there anyone out there willing to sponsor him in this endeavour? Any amount would be much appreciated. Thankyou in advance.

The Waimakariri District Council's draft Rangiora Town Centre Strategy Blueprint to 2030+ is out for consultation and the council is keen to get as much feedback as possible.

Council business and centres manager Simon Hart said another 6 to 8 hectares of residential space (enough for about 4500 homes) would be required over the next two to three decades to keep up with the area's expected growth. Areas to the west and east of Rangiora have been earmarked for future residential growth.

The draft plan will be on display in the Gables Arcade on High St from February 22 and consultation runs until March 9.
