She also loves swimming in the creek on our lifestyle block and likes most things about country life (except cows which can be a bit intimidating). She also loves a lie in and is always the last one out of bed."

***UPDATED: Protests have ceased and roads have reopened. Buses have resumed their regular routes.***

Wellington Police have advised they will be in and around the city today (Tuesday, 23 August) monitoring The Freedom and Rights Coalition protest and the likely presence of a counter-protest group. As a precaution, additional Police staff have been called in from outside of the Wellington Police District setting up a base in the Parliament buildings.

A detour is in place for Metlink bus services in the Wellington CBD and all road closures will be in place until the conclusion of the protest.

Wellington District Commander Superintendent Corrie Parnell shares that their primary mission today is to maintain law and order, ensuring that the public feels safe and free to move around. Structures will not be permitted to be erected on Parliament grounds and any behaviour deemed unlawful or that disrupts people from going about their lawful business will not be tolerated.

What you need to know:
- Roads in the city area, including the Parliament end of Lambton Quay, lower Molesworth Street, and Kate Sheppard Place have been closed to unauthorised vehicles today.
- Buses that would normally use Lambton Quay and Wills Street will detour along Jervois and Waterloo Quays.
- Bus routes 14, 32X, 22, 81, 84, 744, 745 heading toward Molesworth Steet will travel along Bowen Street and Tinakori Road to avoid the Parliamentary precinct.
- Any concerning behaviour can be reported to Police by calling 105.

Spooky, the black and white cat often spooks my Corgi in surveying him from a neighbour's window sill position when we pass by.

Spooky decided some days ago to explore our property and when we arrived home he scooted underneath our driveway-parked SUV like a scared rabbit.

Later his owner came past and enquired after his missing kitty.

Next day and Scooty's entire family were out searching for him.

"Hey," one of them said to me "I can hear a meow coming from your garage." So I looked in the garage. No cat. Another meow and the plea was pinpointed towards the SUV. Opened the doors. Nothing. Maybe its coming from within the bonnet. Opened that. And there squatting on the battery was Spooks.
He had obviously been there since the fright flight and thus had experienced a free ride to Lower Hutt during that time.
Maybe that is why the car had performed more swifter with greater acceleration under the guise of cat power.

Whatever, I doubt Spooky will want to be assisting from under the bonnet ever again.

Just when you thought Brewtown in Upper Hutt has got almost everything it possibly could have, along comes the Gillies Group with even further advancements.

The two most recent additions are an outdoor Farmers Market that started very modestly and has sprung up in produce stall numbers and public attendances; and an out-and-out cafe with a bicycling theme.

Just announced is a two million dollar canopy covering of the Farmers Market to make it an all-weather venue every Sunday as well as increasing its area size so that up to 100 stalls can be positioned within it.

It will be the only covered Farmers Market in NZ and is destined to attract hordes of people living in other parts of the region.

The semi enclosed area can also be used for other events such as concerts which is fantastic and gives Brewtown twin permanent "marquees" in respect to the one that was constructed a couple of years ago and was utilised for the very successful New Year's Eve gig last December 31.

Attended Beervana at Sky Stadium today and despite being a Friday morning/afternoon, a very big crowd converged around the concourse of this super stadium.
Brewtown was well represented by Te Aro, Boneface and Panhead who are all leaders among craft beer producers in NZ. Only my personal favourite Kereru from the wider Brewtown precinct was missing but hopefully they will be back again next year.

Despite being held indoors, Beervana was a no-mask wearing event - only about 5 people among 5000 seemingly wore masks when not drinking, eating during the time I was there.

Fluoride has its place and is beneficial for the teeth of children in particular.
Fluoride can be gotten from dental toothpaste for humans and in the correct amount needed to help prevent tooth decay.
But most of us use the convenience of tap water for all our water needs and we tend to use tap water to also keep our water-hungry pets alive and well.

The problem here is that fluoride can be harmful to humans and is definitely harmful to dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and other animals. Dogs rely on fresh, cool and chemical-free water more than even humans do. And the size and body weight of most dogs through to mice is so much less than humans.

Fluoridation does not improve water quality.

Fluoride can cause brain damage and bone damage including arthritis. It can even cause teeth discolouration.

So that not filtering fluoride into or tap water system in the Wellington region over the past several months without seemingly known to the public is a very good thing for pets and for us so long as we know about it and can purchase appropriate toothpaste.

And I believe our water has been tasting better.
