First time I have ever experienced this at a movie:

Tonight at the Monterey Cimemas complex in Upper Hutt I and five others present saw a trailer of the feature movie we were to see a few minutes later. Was it simply filling in time? But for one of the patrons, the trailer showed her more of the movie than what she tried to see over the course of two hours - she went to sleep quite early on.

And the movie title: La La Land. Indeed.

A Big thank you to all those lovely people in Stokes Valley who have generously contributed to the Wellington City Mission.

Special thanks to Elizabeth Anderson of New World Stokes Valley who was kind enough to provide a space in their store for placing the collection box.

There was all kind of stuff ranging from cans, baking supplies, christmas tarts, cakes, decorations and even toys. It shows how every individual was mindful of the recepients.

For those who were contemplating to give but missed this opportunity to be part of the mission, its not too late, some stores have food banks where you can still contribute.

I have attached photos of the collection we made, its not much, but I am sure it means a lot to somebody. Tomorrow  I shall be dropping it off to the Wellington City Mission.

Thankyou once again for being someone's STAR,  be blessed and have a wonderful Christmas.

Brown Owl Kindergarten is hoping to win best float again this year with their Troll themed float, although it is just about having fun with the community.

"It's always just about having a postiive-themed float and having a good time," co-president of the kindergarten committee Vic Nation said.

Last year they won the best float prize with their Kiwiana themed float, the year before that they were highly commended for "Tane's Forest" and the year before that they won best float for "Travelling Around the World for Christmas".

This year the parade's theme is a "Merry Movie Christmas" and they chose to use the recently released Trolls as their inspiration.

"It's a fun movie, adults and kids like it. It has a positive story and it is it happening now."

As the kindergarten's float is all about their wider community they have encouraged not just the students, but their siblings, parents and former pupils to ride on the float.

There is a $1000 prize for the float that best reflects the theme of a Merry Movie Christmas, and a $250 prize for the People's Choice Award, voted for on social media in the week following the parade.

* The Christmas Parade, with more than 30 Merry Movie Christmas themed floats, takes place on December 4 at 3pm at King St, making its way down Main St to Royal St. Expressions is holding an after party from 3pm to 6pm.
