You can take a dog on public transport trains and buses in the Wellington region so long as the dog can be secured (enclosed) in a carrier bag.
But you cannot take a dog in a three-four wheeler buggy (designed for small-medium size dogs) in public transport even if the buggy compartment was secured (enclosed).

But you can take a baby in an equal sized or larger buggy in the train or bus with or without a secured compartment.

Does all this seem fair and sensible? No, it's plain stupid. I don't think Metlink have thought it through.

In Auckland on public transport you can have a dog in a carrier bag or a dog of any size fitted with a muzzle and on a leash otherwise "free-wheeling".

Wellington's Metlink should think again. When I phoned them, I had to wait 15 minutes while the person I dealt with queried my query with the powers that be.

I have taken Corgis into Wellington many times in a train in a pet carrier - from one of only two manufacturers in the world able to supply such a carrier to fit a long backed Corgi with Corgis weighing up 16kg (without being obese).

BREWTOWN SUFFERS NEGLECT FROM TOURIST OPERATORS

Pre-Covid, bus and mini bus operators had arrangements with cruise operators to Wellington to promote and operate tours for cruise passengers to visit Brewtown in Upper Hutt and Greytown and Martinborough in the Wairarapa.

But today none of this is occurring and Brewtown, Greytown and Martinborough are suffering the consequences and tourists are missing out in some of the best things NZ has to offer all within an hour's travelling time each way of the Wellington wharves.

And this is despite the huge increase in cruise shipping to Wellington this 2023-24 warm weather period.

I cannot begin to believe there is not a good profit to be made from linking cruise ship passengers with transportation to get some of the thousands of tourists to the places and facilities mentioned - Brewtown is unique to the world let alone NZ and Martinborough has world class wine and world class dining and drinking facilities with more than 30 wineries. not including other wineries in the Wairarapa.

Peter is helping us out with something that nearly everyone can relate to – dealing with the unsorted photos taking up space on your phone or languishing in boxes in your home.

“Without fail, when I give a talk about getting organised, I’m always asked how to deal with photos,” says Peter.

Boxes of unsorted photos can feel overwhelming to organise so they often get left for many years to clutter up our houses. In addition to this, most of us have smartphones that make it easy to take photos anywhere, so pretty soon our digital photo life becomes cluttered too.
