The little white kiwi with a feisty personality was more than just a bird to those who met her and the institutions who served as her guardians.
The extremely rare bird made the news across the world as the first white kiwi chick to be hatched in captivity back in 2011, and she died on December 27, 2020 after surgery to remove an infertile egg that had become stuck.

Remutaka MP Chris Hipkins said he’d long had concerns over the road and believes road should be two lanes in either direction.

From Sunday January 10, the current safety improvement work site will be extended. The site is being extended to Judgeford and will include the closure of the eastbound passing lane near the Moonshine Road intersection.
At times overnight there may be two separate STOP/GO sites within the worksite on Sunday. During these periods, there may be delays of up to 10 minutes. The new set up is expected to be in place for three months.
Have you been commuting into Wellington?
On Wednesday there was again long queues as hundreds of capital commuters crammed into Wellington Railway Station as they waited for buses replacing the trains.
Akatarawa Road will be closed today (before Staglands, see map) between 12pm and approximately 5pm to remove a large tree. With no traffic allowed through, please follow the instructions displayed on the signage if you’re in the area.
