Most disappointing amenities in Upper Hutt

2/ MONTERAY MOVIE COMPLEX. Comfortable theatres but services, high costs and lack lustre restaurant/cafe leave much to be desired.
3/ NEW RETAIL STORE IN CBD. This replacement for the burnt-down Hallensteins shop is just a single storey thus missing the opportunity to create apartments above the retail space and set-up the CBD for a mix of retail etc and accommodation/living quarters.
4/ THE MALL. Third rate and so does not provide for an exciting, creative and interesting place to visit that set's it apart from others.

Motorway Moonshine Bridge Underpass to Moonshine Rd.

Here's some food for thought. When we first moved to Trentham in 2003, it was possible to turn into Moonshine Road, as you come off the Hutt River-Moonshine bridge from the north bound lane of the motorway, until they put up the barrier in the middle of the motorway, because it was so dangerous crossing over the high velocity traffic flow of the south bound lane, to access entry into Moonshine Road.
But, if you take a walk under the eastern side of the Hutt River-Moonshine motorway bridge, you'll find only 2 or 3 low fences that block the route under the bridge, that could easily be removed and the route converted into an underpass, so that when you come off the Hutt River-Moonshine bridge from the north bound lane of the motorway, you would then move left into a slow-down lane that would next double back under the motorway bridge, and up onto Moonshine Road, thereby restoring the faster motorway travel we once all had ! The only thing that might be an obstacle is if there is less than 4.3 metres of clearance for trucks etc, but that could be overcome by either lowering the road slightly or else, you have a warning sign, and a warning portal, where any too high vehicle that passes through it, activates an alarm to tell it to turn around and use another route; eg Whakatiki St.
The underpass may be subject to flooding, but that is no different to the Pharazyn St/Melling bridge underpass in Lower Hutt, and we have some good concrete available these days !

Hi all,
This format has been suggested by the Neighbourly Team, with Elesha's endorsement, as a method to include the whole Upper Valley when the need arises to be a united voice. Am hoping to get this up and running as a method to unite when necessary, and to keep everyone involved when it comes to topics or events beyond individual communities.
I would be grateful if a Lead from each of our 17 neighbourhoods could step forward as an 'Official' (don't like that word, but ....) to help oversee the process, ensure it stays on track, and becomes an extension of individual Noticeboards.
It would have been great to have it for the Recycling Survey, but now we can move forward.
One can reach this by clicking on the 'Organisations' section on the green header toolbar, or respond via this message.
Thanks in anticipation

A huge thanks to all ( 133 of you 👏 ) who took the time to take part.
I have summarised the information to present alongside the poll Heather Blissett (Neighbourhood Support) and her supporters have undertaken via Facebook, along with some oral responses from people caught at the recycle depot itself. All this data will presented to the UHCC at the appropriate time. Remember : anyone will be able to make a personal submission.
I am attaching my summary for those who are interested.

What about SOLAR as a source of heating for your home...

Solar panels provide essentially free hot water. Any excess can be diverted to heating a pool or added into a floor heating system. During winter months solar will require back-up heat supplementation. Power and gas prices are continuing to rise and are forecast to increase sharply as demand increases – solar is renewable, sustainable, efficient and reduces hot water heating costs.
