KEEP THIS IN MIND

Though the doors may be locked for everyone's safety, they will always be open for the sick and the injured.

From Monday 23rd March 2020, all general practice surgeries have been instructed to screen people entering their facilities and therefore apply a 'closed door' policy.

We will be providing consultations by phone, email or video.

If you have a prebooked appointment, your doctor or nurse will contact you via one of these methods. If they feel it is necessary to see you face-to-face they will organise this with you.

If you need to book an appointment, you must contact us by telephone or Manage My Health first.

If you have been advised by the governement to self isloate (eg you are 70 years of age or older or immunocompromised) and need medical assistance, please contact us by telephone or Manage My Health so we can help you. We have local pharmacies who can assist with home delivery medication.

To free up capacity in our services, we encourage you to consider postponing your routine appointments this week.

To help reduce the burden at After Hours facilities during this extremely busy time, we encourage all our patients to contact Silverstream Health Centre when we have our highest level of staffing (Between weekdays 9am and 5pm)

We will not be making face-to-face booking for the following non-urgent appointments:

Routine nurse appointments e.g. smears/wart treatment/ear syringes/blood pressure checks Scripts will be faxed to your pharmacy to reduce person to person contact so you will need to let us know your normal pharmacy.

Please do not stockpile medications. It is critical for us to maintain access to medicines across our community.

We will provide further updates on flu vaccination clinics and you can be assured that patients at highest risk of complications from influenza will be prioritised as a matter of urgency.

We are taking these measures to try and reduce the spread of COVID-19, to protect everyone in the community and to be able to continue caring for those most vulnerable.

Missing Black & White Cat?

Nicola from Pinehaven

Is anyone missing a sweet black very young cat with white nose, chest, and paws, and wearing a bell? One is hanging around my place on Pinehaven Road. I gave it a cuddle (probably a mistake) and now she's hanging around mewing. Dear concerned citizen,

We must now all stay home. Because that’s how we’ll stop the virus.

Level 4 measures will likely be in place for a number of weeks.

Don’t worry. During that time you will still be able to access all the essentials you need, including medicine, food, and other home supplies.

ALL THE TIME, NO EXCEPTIONS
It’s incredibly important that we all follow the Level 4 plan, all the time. No exceptions. Because doing so will save lives.

A CHALLENGE FOR EVERYONE
We realise these are big changes. But these are challenging times.
If we don't all stay home, the whole country will need Level 4 restrictions for longer.

SUPPORT OUR EMERGENCY SERVICE PEOPLE
We owe it to the essential services. Our nurses, doctors and everyone else on the frontline. They’re working tirelessly to save lives. We should all do everything in our power to help them do this.
Thank you to each and every person, for doing their bit.

While you’re staying at home:

STAY CONNECTED
• Don’t let physical distance stop you staying connected. Keep in touch with people using video calls, phone calls, chat and texting.
• If you know people who are living alone, vulnerable, or separated from their loved ones, regularly check-in with them.

STAY WELL
• Continue to practice good hygiene – wash your hands with soap. Then dry.
• Cough or sneeze into your elbow.
• Regularly clean surfaces in your home with disinfectant.
• Keep up regular physical exercise, and get some fresh air when possible. It’s good so long as this is solitary, or only with those you live with.

REACH OUT
If you need advice, support or help, try reaching out to friends, family, whānau or workmates.

WE'RE UPDATING INFORMATION CONSTANTLY
For all the latest advice, including answers to your health and financial questions, go to Covid19.govt.nz.

And remember: what you do now, will help protect all of us.

Last chance to nab this beautiful bird before the lockdown! Get in touch by 9am Wednesday morning to arrange a handover.

Astro is a beautiful Australorp cockerel (young rooster) looking for a new forever home.

Astro is friendly and curious, happy to eat out of your hand and while he doesn't like being touched, he is happy in both human and chicken company. He would love to have a flock to look after, and maybe become a dad.

Astro is a favourite with us, having been with us since he was a wee egg. We've kept him as long as we can here in the 'burbs, but now he needs a place where he can really settle in, and maybe even crow to his heart's content.

Greater Wellington Regional Council has closed vehicular access next to the Te Awa Kairangi/Hutt River at Harcourt Werry Drive and the access on the stopbank near High Street in the south.

The restriction is aimed at discouraging camping and congregation in the light of the raised COVID-19 alert levels and directives from the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Health. While the restriction will be in place until further notice, cyclists and pedestrians will continue to have access to pathways by the river.
