Friday 2 February 2024 between the hours of 12am - 3am

Due to the recent wet weather (lessening the normal summer demand) we can carry out water leak detection in the system.

These works involve rolling shutdowns across sections of the network. It is anticipated that shutdowns will last for a maximum of 30 minutes and occur between the hours of midnight and 3am. Note that properties may be affected by multiple shutdowns during this period.

You can help: If you are aware of any leaks within the Haumoana and Te Awanga water supply we ask you to please report these to HDC on (06) 871 5000.

There is a chance the shutdowns create some aeration or discolouration of the water. If this occurs please flush your taps for approx. 5 minutes. If this does not resolve the problem, contact us on (06) 871 5000.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

I have just driven to Napier and back, in horizontal rain, and almost not seen all the cars with no headlights on, on the roads.

On days like today, where visibility is next to nothing, at times, and the road is a slick as snot (and it is), do not rely on auto headlights. They only come on when it’s dark, and it’s not. Heavy rain and fog do not activate your headlights, and you, and everyone else, need them.
Whether you do or don’t have auto headlights, seriously, if you need wipers you NEED headlights.

You may say “But I can see perfectly!” A: no, you really can’t. And B: no one can see you. Che k your mirrors if you don’t believe me. How well can you see the traffic behind you with no headlights, or coming towards you? Not very, eh?!

Do you want to get where you are going, at all, and ensure everyone else on the road does too, use your noodle and your headlights.

Also, gently pump your brakes before you need to stop. Wet brakes (water and road grime) don’t always function properly. And tyres don’t have the best traction on wet road surfaces.

And, please, please, slow down.

Air cell blanket

Julie Neighbourly Lead from Havelock North

Does anyone know where to get a proper, natural fibre, queen sized, air cell blanket from?

My boy overheats with a quilt, but likes the weight, so I think an air cell blanket would do the trick.

I've had people say to me "I know I have to exercise/get stronger/become more flexible (whatever it is!), but I don't know where to start and I don’t have time.”

Well, it's time to start and I can help you.

I specialise in working one-on-one (in person and online) with men and women, guiding them to build their strength and flexibility, gain confidence in their bodies and abilities, and make time for exercise.

Our sessions will be tailored to your unique needs and will fit in with your diary commitments.

I’ll personalise sessions where I’ll guide you through movements and exercises so you’re not having to show up to work out alone.

I like to use:

* Functional movements
* Bodyweight exercises that focus on full body, core, legs, arms
* Grip strength exercises
* Balance practice

So don't put it off - DM me to schedule a consultation call to see what it's like to work with me one-on-one.
