Choose a warm paint colour
Explore the colour wheel - Notice that yellows, oranges and reds are on the warm side so utilising those colours will simulate a cosier, warmer mood. Blue and purples are on the cool side so they will simulate the opposite mood.
Warm lighting
Group lighting by using task and ambience lighting and a mixture of table and floor lamps. Warm coloured bulbs throw out a softer light and give a room a cosy feel.
TIP: Having your lights on separate switches means you can control how bright/dim a space will be.
Add pot plants
Any living element contributes to a cosy and inviting feel. Plants in baskets are not only on-trend, but they also generate more oxygen inside your home too.
TIP: Group pots together using different shapes and heights to make a focal point.
Carpet, rugs and textiles
Tiles are great but can be chilly underfoot in the cooler months. Carpets insulate, soften and warm up a room and New Zealand wool carpets are environmentally friendly with a sustainable fibre, plus naturally flame retardant.
Don’t discount rugs even if you have carpets. Make sure you choose a rug that works with your existing carpet. Placing a rug between yourself and the floor instantly guarantees a warmer atmosphere. Rugs are also incredibly good at tying a space together.
TIP: Garage carpet reforms the space from a cold concrete feel to a soft warm space too!

The email directs the recipient to renew the funds through clicking a 'Renew Now' button at the bottom corner of the email. It then takes the individual to fake website that gets them to fill in personal details.
CERT NZ, the government authority responsible for cyber security said in a tweet, that anyone who receives this email should report it directly to Waka Kotahi (NZTA).
How to spot a phishing scam:
- NZTA will only send an email through if an individual has contacted them first.
- Email addresses will always end in @nzta.govt.nz, @enews.nzta.govt.nz or @reply.nzta.govt.nz.
- The email may be missing specific details that the NZTA will have on file: such as your plate number, the date your vehicle license is due and vehicle make and model.
- Hover over buttons and links to see if the pop-up will take you to a genuine government (.govt.nz) website

After planting new trees last month, we are now back to weeding, and removing unwanted shrubs and trees.
What and where is I’Anson Bush Reserve? This lovely bush reserve with a 2 km walking track around a small lake is situated off Loop Road, which is off SH2, about 500 meter past the Te Puna roundabout on the right (when coming from Tauranga). It is managed by Western Bay District Council, and supported by Forest & Birds and Queen Elisabeth II Trust. A group of enthusiastic volunteers helps for a couple of hours every third Thursday of the month.
More volunteers are needed. Newcomers welcome, no experience needed, various fitness levels accommodated, equipment supplied, training given on the job, satisfaction guaranteed. Just wear sturdy shoes, bring gloves and a water bottle if you wish. We meet at 9:30 am on the car park off Loop Road and we drop the tools by 11:30am. Several of us go for lunch to a nearby café. Car pool available from Katikati.
We also seek dedicated volunteers to look after traplines for pest control. It will take approximately 1 hour a month. All equipment supplied.
