Gardening & Lifestye Magazines

Lisa from Otumoetai

I have heaps of these to get rid of and don't want to just send them to the Transfer Station. I know charity shops aren't taking them. Any ideas who might be interested? Thanks

Hey neighbours,

In the lead up to the 2020 election, Stuff is keeping voters up to date with what’s happening in their electorate, through Neighbourly. Here’s what you need to know about the candidates in the running to be Tauranga's MP.

At the October 17 election, New Zealanders will have the opportunity to choose their regional spokesperson.

Through the Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) voting system, those enrolled can vote for the party they want as well as a local representative.

Why does my MP matter?

The person elected will be the voice for your region in Parliament. If you’re having trouble getting entitlements or dealing with Government departments, they can help. If your community needs funding for certain projects or activities, or there isn’t enough healthcare in the area, the elected MP can step in and help.

Day light saving started 2 weeks ago and now it’s a good time to do a twice yearly maintenance check on your windows.
Go around and open and close all your windows. Open them fully to the stops and make sure they move freely and seal completely at the top and bottom. If they are stiff, a spray with any spray lube (except the red CRC) on all the pivot joints will help.

Note- if your windows are very stiff don’t force them or you could break them.

Any questions, send us a message!

Have a great day!

Good neighbour is looking for some help with school lunches 1 hour/day. If you are interested, you can contact Christien. Her details are at the bottom of this mail:

Good Neighbour is providing Gate Pa School with healthy school lunches starting on Monday 2nd November. Our goal is to create opportunities for whanau involvement in the classroom. We are asking for initial volunteers to get this up and running until we get parental commitments.

The time commitment is about 1 hour per day

12:45pm Set up lunch trolley at school
1:05pm Lunch service to one class (20-30 kids)
1:20pm Clean up with the Children
1:30pm Children back in class

This is a Monday to Friday lunch time event during the school term. We need one parent/caregiver in each classroom every day to serve lunch to the class and help them with the clean-up (kids have to wash their own dishes). With 18 classrooms we are looking to fill approx. 90 volunteer slots per week.

If you like being around children while encouraging them to eat well and enjoy being part of change then let me know the day/s you can help. We start lunches on 2 November

We have run a trial at Gate Pa School and it was a lot of fun. It was exciting to see children who said “I don’t like that” come back with nacho sauce all around their mouth asking for seconds.

This is a great opportunity to get involved in our community on a short term basis as we are hopeful to have a full roster of trained up school parents on board for Term 1 2021. However, if you are keen to continue into next year we would be happy to have you on board.

Don’t worry - Full training will be provided.

It would be great to hear from you if you are interested in helping with healthy school lunches. It can be a commitment of just one day a week or more if you can.

To register your interest, please contact Lee Pearce 022 162-2921 or Simone Gibson 027 352-3386 or email simone@goodneighbour.co.nz. We would love to hear from you.
