Ask little Lily O'Sullivan why she enjoys planting trees between her kindergarten and the adjoining reserve and her answer is typical of a four-year-old – she likes to get her hands dirty!

But there was more to the experience than that, of course, and Lily is also looking forward to the fruit the trees will bear in the next few years.

Children from Central Kids Kindergarten Laughton helped our staff plant 12 fruit trees in Laughton Street Reserve last month including orange, mandarin, lemon, guava and feijoa trees.

Five artists will showcase work celebrating connections and the natural beauty of the world around us at a new Taupo Museum exhibition.

The exhibition, Playing in Paradise, has been coordinated by artist Jane Penton. She said the two and three-dimensional works had been created using fabric, fibre and found objects. Along with five collaborators, she has created hand-made pieces including sculpture, collage and even a DVD.

Ms Penton said there was also a storytelling element to the exhibition, which came through the choice of materials used and personal significance to the artists using them.

Whether you're hitting the street to trick or treat, or staying inside with the the candy bowl by your side - here's some Neighbourly Halloween tips to ensure that this Tuesday is a fun and safe experience for you and your neighbours!

1. Set up a Halloween Group for your street! Plan your Halloween evening with your neighbours to see what time everyone is taking the kids out. You could even co-ordinate matching costumes!

2. Download one of our SPOOKY Neighbourly Halloween posters to stick on your house or letterbox for if:
- You welcome all trick or treaters
- You want trick or treaters to stay away

3. Stay in areas of your neighbourhood that are familiar and are well lit. And although Halloween is supposed to be spooky, be careful not to frighten your elderly neighbours by popping out of the dark!

Stay safe and have fun!

The popularity of drones in the Taupo District has led to the Taupo Airport Authority developing a mobile app to assist drone users when operating within four kilometres of an aerodrome.

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) rules state drone operators wanting to fly higher than the height of a structure or tree must have a valid pilot's qualification or be under the supervision of someone who does. Other restrictions mean drones cannot be operated within four kilometres of an aerodrome unless certain conditions are met, such as gaining permission from the aerodrome operator.
