In my early years I started and operated a Wellington business for ten years with proven financial stewardship skills that allowed me to retire early to Taupo.

Since then I have served as a Taupo District Councilor for 2 terms and became a certified Resource Management Act Commissioner adjudicating on hearings within the Taupo District with a priority for positive environmental outcomes.

My grandchildren attend Waipahihi School where I also serve on the Board of Trustees.

I’m a dedicated volunteer and a fully qualified Cycle Skills instructor. I teach young school children throughout the district, including Turangi, Kuratau and Mangakino on how to ride bicycles and then when they are older on how to be safe while riding on our roads.

That means the right of way will stay the same over the weekend. Please follow the signs and take care and we will let you know as soon as we hear when the priority will be changing. Thanks everyone for your patience and understanding.

*****

Changes to the right of way at the intersection of Napier Road, Arrowsmith Avenue and Kiddle Drive are set to go live overnight, with our contractor completing the final road markings tonight. The changes give traffic travelling on Kiddle Drive and Arrowsmith Avenue the right of way, with vehicles on Napier Road required to stop.

Safety is our number one priority, so please take extra care and reduce your speed when approaching this intersection. There will be large digital screens advising drivers of the change on each approach to the intersection, along with new fixed signs with ‘new road layout’ on the approaches. In addition, signage displaying a reduced speed limit of 30km/h approaching the intersection will also be in place for the next few weeks to help everybody get used to new layout.

We’re pleased to see this work completed as it will make this intersection safer for everyone who uses it including school children, cyclists, pedestrians and drivers. Thanks for your patience everybody!
