Loss of one of our fur babies....

His hip was broken right up near his spine. Due to his age, the vet couldn't operate. He may well have been on the road, but we were outside most of the day and heard no screech of brakes or any other indication you had tried NOT to hit him. He couldn't get out of your way quickly enough - it would be like asking an 84 year old to run a 100m sprint. Please, please slow down in streets where there are pets and children about. We miss him terribly, and you have no idea of the cost and pain you have inflicted on a superannuitant and the rest of the household.

Rhys Frearson has been appointed to the role of General Manager of Taupō Airport.

Prior to his appointment, Mr Frearson was Manager of Operations at Rotorua Airport. Mr Frearson began his aviation career as a member of a Rescue Fire crew, before studying for a Diploma in Aviation, progressing to Rescue Fire manager and then on to Operations Manager. He also enjoys time viewing the world from the pilot’s seat as often as possible.

Mr Frearson said he was looking forward to getting stuck into the new role, ensuring the airport met all civil aviation requirements, and acting as the point of contact for the community. “The Taupō district is a very dynamic place and I’m really excited to be here. It’s such an upbeat region and there is so much to do, I’m really looking forward to the challenges and opportunities we have for the airport here,” he said.

Head of economic development and business development John Ridd said Mr Frearson was taking up the role at an exciting time. “We have the bones of ‘the best little airport in New Zealand’ due to the fantastic work of previous managers, and Rhys comes to the role at a great time when we are primed for further growth both airside and landside. He brings the skills and experience which will take the airport to the next level,” he said.

Who wouldn’t want to show up to play in flash shoes like these? Customise a fresh pair of footwear or fancy up some old favourites – while covering up scuff marks – with nothing more than a few Resene testpots, artist’s brushes and a bit of good quality masking tape.

If your kids are little, you can help mask off any of the harder parts – such as around the soles – that you want to keep paint off of and remove laces, if there are any. You can even use this idea to makeover adult shoes that never get worn because the colour doesn’t go with anything.

Make the most of this weekend with this easy step by step project idea from Resene.

Hi neighbours! At Cooper's Pet Kitchen our food is free of cheap fillers like grains, corn, soy & wheat... but what does that really mean?

It means there’s more protein-packed nutrition in every bite. We’re big believers in quality over quantity so while our food may be a little more expensive than some, its nutrient density makes for smaller portions with more readily absorbable nutrients.

Get more bang for your dog’s bite with 50% OFF your first order with code NEIGHBOURLY.

This also means a decrease in what comes out the other end... less 'picking up' what they’re 'putting down' at the dog park if you catch our drift.

Which 'summer' are you having?

The Team Reporter from Stuff

It's been a mixed summer so far for New Zealand. Much of the country has seen record breaking temperatures, drought-conditions and scrub fires. But in recent days the West Coast and Southland have experienced heavy rains, flooding, evacuations and closed roads. Our thoughts are with affected.

It's been a mixed summer so far for New Zealand. Much of the country has seen record breaking temperatures, drought-conditions and scrub fires. But in recent days the West Coast and Southland have experienced heavy rains, flooding, evacuations and closed roads. Our thoughts are with affected.

Our skies have been coloured by smoke blown over from the Australian bushfires, meanwhile Wellingtonians are just stoked if they get to see the sun.

How has your summer been?
