Toastmasters has changed my life by giving me the confidence to express myself and communicate effectively. Toastmasters has also honed my skills in leading and I constantly improve myself and at the same time we have a lot of fun in the process, I believe that a toastmaster club can offer so many benefits to the community since we are all very social creatures, that is why we are working on reforming the club in Tokoroa it is free to come along and see what it is all about everyone is welcome we are meeting this Thursday night at 7pm at the Tokoroa club upstairs in the blue room.

Poll: Should New Zealand take in 1500 refugees? Is it enough?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The annual refugee quota will lift from 1000 to 1500 by July 2020, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced this week. Before 2016 the refugee quota sat static at 750 for 30 years, well behind many other western nations. The National Government then raised it to 1000. Is it enough?

As a result, Taupō District Council will no longer be taking plastics with the code 3-7. This will begin on October 1. Contractors will put a message in the bin if you have recycled 3-7 plastics. Cans, bottles and some plastics will still be accepted, but the rest - such as yoghurt pottles, ice cream containers, shampoo bottles - will be considered rubbish.

These codes - 3-7 plastics - have been recyclable since 2006, so Taupō residents had become used to putting these plastics into the recycle bin. That process had seen them able to divert about 34 million containers from landfill.

Taupō District Council say, "Look at the plastic to find the triangle with the number on it. We will accept 1-2 plastics, 3-7 will need to go into a refuse bag. People need to think about what they purchase, consumers can drive the change in the market, we want you to go in and think about alternatives."
