Chicken is a popular dish for many Kiwi families. But are you happy to pay the extra cost for free-range or organic chicken? If so, why do you fork out extra for it? Although buying free-range chicken might be an ethical choice for many, it's not necessarily any healthier than other chicken.

Search for man missing in Taupō bush continues

The search for a man missing in Taupō bush will continue on Thursday morning.

Scott McPherson, 22, contacted his family on Tuesday, to tell them he was lost in the bush around Opepe Farm, near State Highway 5, also known as the Napier-Taupō Road.

The search for a man missing in Taupō bush will continue on Thursday morning.

Scott McPherson, 22, contacted his family on Tuesday, to tell them he was lost in the bush around Opepe Farm, near State Highway 5, also known as the Napier-Taupō Road.

No-one was heard from him since. McPherson was last seen wearing green camouflage pants, a black jacket and a white Tui hat. The search team met at 7am on Thursday to discuss a plan for the day, a police spokeswoman said.

McPherson is described as 183cm tall, of slim build, with short light brown hair. He has blue eyes and a tattoo on his left shoulder down to his elbow, as well as a scar on his neck. Police are asking anyone who might have seen Scott to get in touch by ringing 111.

Ātiamuri first made a name for itself in hydro power. Now it's cheap fuel that's putting this tiny village back on the map. The small rural community on the bank of the Waikato River holds the title of cheapest place for petrol in the country, according to petrol price comparison app Gaspy.

Gull Ātiamuri – 45 kilometres north of Taupō – last week was selling 91 unleaded for $2.107 a litre. Three hours north, in central Auckland, it's 30 cents dearer. Read more
