RISK: Wiper linkage ball joints could corrode and the linkage could jam or separate. The wipers would be inoperative in the worst case scenario.

Taupō District Council has been named one of the top council’s in the country for customer experience.

The council’s customer services team took out second place in the Customer Experience Award, presented as part of the 2019 Association of Local Government Information Management (ALGIM) Spring Conference.

The awards were judged on a mystery shopper's experience that anonymously assessed customer services and responses.

Head of communications and customer relations Lisa Nairne said the award confirmed the team’s commitment to excellent customer service.

“The community is always at the forefront of everything we do and to be recognised so highly – out of 78 local authorities across the country – is a great achievement.”

A new exhibition at Taupō Museum showcases the artwork created by prisoners of Tongariro Prison.

The “From the Inside – Mai i Roto” exhibition runs from Saturday, September 28 to Monday, November 4 and came about after an artwork from the prison was entered in last year’s Dog Show exhibition. Museum Exhibition officer Kerence Stephen said the museum had worked with Arts Access New Zealand to invite entries from Prison’s across New Zealand and the Dog Show entry started a relationship with the Department of Corrections.

An exhibition of work by members of the Taupō Embroiderers’ Guild comes to the museum from September 21 – October 28.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to learn more about the craft and vote for their favourite piece.

To mark the opening of the exhibition, members will be holding a ‘stitch-in’ in the gallery from 11am – 2pm on Saturday September 21 where visitors will be treated to a variety of embroideries in progress. Further embroidery ‘stich-in’s’ will be held at the gallery on October 19 and 26 from 10.30am.
