Second Amberley Rellie Challenge a great success
More than 100 teams helped raised about $4500 to upgrade technology at Amberley School by completing a series of mystery challenges.
The second annual Amberley Rellie Challenge was held at the Hurunui school last month (September), featuring 107 teams of two.
Organisers say the teams, who started in waves of 10, had to complete 10 mystery challenges including a word scramble, creating a unique handshake, a three-legged race and constructing a house from marshmallows and toothpicks.
"This fundraising event is all about what we stand for as a school. Our PRIDE values are cornerstones of our school: personal best, respect, integrity, determination, and enjoyment," a spokeswoman said.
"These were all certainly shown and so cool to see so many happy smiling faces enjoying themselves with family."
The school plans to hold the third Amberley Rellie Challenge in 2020.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
