The $28 million facility on Coldstream Rd will house four indoor courts configured for futsal, handball, korfball, volleyball, netball, badminton and basketball, as well as a central fitness facility, change rooms, coaching and meeting space and seating for about 500 spectators.
Construction is expected to be completed by May 2021.

A ballot will determine who gets to operate their business or live on the Kaiapoi River after the Kaiapoi-Tuahiwi Community Board approved a Marine Precinct Management Plan at its last meeting.
The plan will allow casual and long-term berths on the water as the North Canterbury town undergoes a post-earthquake makeover.

The staged reductions are proposed in Environment Canterbury's (ECan) "plan change 7" of the Canterbury Land and Water Regional Plan, now out for consultation.
