And it's a labour of love at Geraldine Cinema where he is regularly adding to his collection of film memorabilia, including the recent purchase of a 1929 New Zealand-built sound projector.

The cinema buff said he had had an interest in movies and the pictures since the age of 14.

"I am the youngest cinema owner in New Zealand.

"I bought the Regent Cinema in Rangiora when I was 21."

At Rangiora High School he resurrected the school's projector and charged students .20c to watch movies during lunch breaks.

"It would pay for my lunch," he said.

Hi neighbours - the Kaikōura District Council says it has gone the extra mile to help quake-affected homeowners, but some say it should have done more to ensure all of those affected could move on.

The council announced this week it would soon complete work on natural hazards issues for a handful of private properties across the district. The announcement follows the council's controversial agreement to move houses at Rakautara a few metres further away from the cliff face.

The plans to move the homes was labelled "ridiculous" by residents. Were you affected by the quake? Has the council done enough for you?
