Are you a fan of fast fashion?

Kelly Dennett Reporter from Sunday Star Times

Many of us grew up flocking to Glassons, Hallenstein's, Cotton On and Just Jeans for our hardy perennials - jeans, t-shirts, summer dresses - and some of us still do.

But we're increasingly becoming aware that buying a $20 t-shirt that won't last the distance isn't that great for the environment.

While some of us are pledging to only buy second hand or to invest in statement pieces - more expensive items that will last a long time- not all of us have that luxury.

We're wanting to speak to someone who isn't giving up their fast fashion any time soon, whether it's for economic or style reasons, personal choice or indifference to the environment. Maybe you're a student who likes the choice chain store fashion brings, or perhaps you're a parent whose children are growing too fast to risk splashing out on expensive clothing.

If this sounds like you, please email kelly.dennett@stuff.co.nz.

Best of all, you don't have to travel all the way into Christchurch to hear great music, it will be on your door step. Victoria Park is, in my humble opinion, one of the most beautiful parks in NZ, AND the pleasure of listening is free, how much better does it get!

Glass Heart String Choir have an affinity with New Zealand which began when guitar-player and vocalist Ian Williams toured the country with US Chamber-pop songwriter Shenandoah Davis back in 2018. Ian is returning to New Zealand with his own project, Glass Heart String Choir, alongside harp-player, violinist and composer Katie Mosehauer. Glass Heart String Choir’s music is compelling in its use of sweeping cinematic strings layered and looped, intricate harp, piano and guitar arrangements, and Ian’s engaging and emotive vocal delivery. Their songs harks back to baroque composition technique at times, but also draw from classic folk writers such as Leonard Cohen and contemporary counter-parts such as Joanna Newsom and Andrew Bird.

North Canterbury parish's newest vicar a ballet star in past life

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from Northern Outlook

Toby Behan may be new to the cloth but he's an old hand at dressing up, having spent many years dancing with the Royal New Zealand Ballet.

He and wife Prue, and children Twyla, 17, and Toby, 15, moved to North Canterbury in December after he was appointed Rangiora's new Anglican vicar.
