Motorists are now able to use Blenheim's newest bridge, says Waka Kotahi NZ Transport (NZTA).

A single lane going towards Picton on the new Ōpaoa Bridge was opened to the traffic on Wednesday night.

“The northbound lane opened late last night around 10pm," and was "running well today", an NZTA spokeswoman said.

Southbound traffic is expected to make the shift onto the new multimillion-dollar bridge - almost two years in the making - from mid-July.
