We hear of global warming,we hear of flash flooding. Here in Tokoroa it’s become a nice little earner.
A contractor tours the town and clears the drains of rubbish, plastic bottles leaves
etc.Great you may think.
But instead of removing them he or she ( can’t afford to be sexist these days) places them directly above the drain, on the grass berm.
A slight breeze or rain sees this debris back in the drain again.
I can only assume the contractor has a relation on the local council.
The council has been made aware of this situation, but considering what else has been a total stuff up in this town I must admit this is insignificant.

Through these tough times we have learned the true strength and resilience of our communities and have witnessed first hand the abundance of aroha in Aotearoa.

Now more than ever, the fern seems to best capture the spirit of our country. If we look to our Māori roots, we are reminded of the twist or pikorua which resembles two intertwined pikopiko ferns - a fern known for thriving in dark, damp areas of our woods. A reminder that difficult conditions can actually be an opportunity for tremendous growth.

The entanglement of the pikorua also has no beginning or end which is often used to represent an everlasting bond. Although we are all on our own path in life, in the end we always come back together - we are all connected through our interwoven lives.

I have gotten so much out of toastmasters not only did it teach me to manage my nerves but also to gather my thoughts and think while I speak, how to express myself effectively, I have also gained leadership skills as well as mentoring. In addition to all these benefits I have certainly met some very interesting people and been part of a very supportive groups that learn and have fun toastmaster nights together. We will be having a demo meet up again on the Thursday the 4th of April, please feel free to check out our facebook page Tokoroa Forestlands Toastmasters for details we keep it updated and post our meetups on there. We would like to have as many guests as possible so everyone is most welcome.
