Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter Trust
I would like to nominate the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter Trust who in 2016 flew 532 missions throughout the top of the South Island. The service is 70% funded by the community and offers a free dedicated rescue helicopter service, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. By supporting our vital service, we can continue to save lives throughout the region. VOTE NOW!

Whangaroa Community Trust
I would like to nominate Whangaroa Community Trust to assist in purchasing paint to create a mural to brighten up and prevent graffiti on the Kaeo amenities block that is next to the children's playground. They are also looking to raise the last $500 to purchase CCTV cameras for the Kaeo main street to help keep our community safe. VOTE NOW!

Crimewatch (Chch) Inc
We patrol schools, parks and areas where the public frequently visit in Christchurch, helping to keep the public safe from crime. We are expanding our reach and our fleet of vehicles because we have the opportunity to run a lot more activities that help support the well being of the whole community. As we are a non-profit organisation we do require funding to pay for fuel and other vehicle expenses to keep our fleets running to an excellent standard. We really appreciate all donations. VOTE NOW!

AED Defibrillator for Churchill Park School
We need to buy an outside AED Defibrillator to put up at Churchill Park School. There are so many sport organisations that use the school and large numbers of walker, joggers and cyclists use the local park and surrounding streets so this is also a essential item not only for the school but the surrounding community. The cost to purchase this is around $3,500 and we would love AMI community Grants to help support this. VOTE NOW!

Wellington North Community Patrol
Our purpose is to empower communities to prevent crime and create safer environments through the utilisation of trained and equipped volunteer patrols. In the November storms last year, we were on the road checking slips, directing traffic and clearing debris. The patrol needs funds to maintain its patrol vehicle - including ongoing petrol costs. Patrol members are also required to wear high-viz vests and currently we do not have sufficient on hand to allocate to each of our patrollers. VOTE NOW!

Surrogate Grandparents NZ
I have started up a non profit organisation called Surrogate Grandparents NZ who's aim is to unite families who may not have their own Grandparents close by, or are no longer alive with "Surrogate" Grandparents. It will provide support for families with young children as well as being companionship for the older generation who may be lonely and away from their own families. VOTE NOW!

This is the second day of showcasing two of our AMI Community Grant finalists to share a bit more about the great work that they're doing in Kiwi communities. You can help support these organisations by voting for them to win their share of $20,000.

North Shore Initial Response Trust
Every week we voluntarily train to prepare for disasters when emergency services require additional support in searches for missing people, sandbagging to protect properties from flooding, and helping limit damage to people and properties following events such as tornadoes, storms and tsunamis. As a group of volunteers, we are not paid for any of this activity. Since the equipment is exposed to extreme weather events and difficult environments, it regularly needs to be replaced. There is some vital equipment we are in need of in order to be able to continue our dedicating our time to helping keep people safe. VOTE NOW!

Riverton Community Garden Project
Our goal is to create a self-funding, sustainable food producing garden that can eventually start to give back to those most in need within our community, such as struggling families, and the elderly. We rely on various age groups to look after the garden, including the Riverton Primary School, Aparima College (local high school) and Riverton Childcare and other local volunteers. We are seeking funding to establish infrastructure to support the garden for many years to come. VOTE NOW!

Youth & Search Rescue Trust - Tauranga
14 to 18 year old students from the whole Bay of Plenty are trained in volunteering and helping rescue people. They learn First Aid, searching in urban and back country situations, water safety, leadership and many more amazing life changing subjects. This organisation receives no government funding and relies on grants and donations to train these amazing young people. VOTE NOW!

Seddon Community and Neighbourhood Support Group
Seddon is our small rural township located to the south of Blenheim on SH1. Rocked and devastated (again) by the quakes in November 2016. With the loss of access to Christchurch via the Main North Line, and SH 1, we are at the “end of the line”. Every one of our self employed residents has taken a huge hit, many of whom can no longer support themselves especially with the removal of all emergency funding as of the 14th February. we are hoping to be able to provide to the whole community, access to essential first aid kits at reasonable and affordable costs to all the residents. It is for this initiative we are seeking some funding in order to subsidise these kits. VOTE NOW!!
