The current proposal includes:
- Reducing the cap on the number of gaming machines allowed to operate in the district.
- Introducing location requirements for new venues, which would prevent them from being located in areas of high deprivation.
- Reducing the limit of the number of Class 4 gaming machines (commonly known as pokies) allowed at new venues
- Making a number of editorial amendments to the Policy.
You are invited to have your say here, submission close 24 October 2018.

The task between now and December 2022 was to build 454 cellular sites across New Zealand. The top 400 of those sites would service about 34,000 rural households while the next 54, which were "stretch targets" if funds allowed, would service another 2500.
In Tasman district, 20 of the proposed sites are part of the top 400: Maruia West Bank, Bainham, Creighton, Lee Valley Rd, Torrent Bay, Abel Tasman National Park, Kikiwa, Pakawau, Nguroa Bay, Glenhope, Nelson Lakes campsite area, Lake Station, Pohara, Blue Lake, Ariki, Shenandoah, Takaka, Mahana, Matiri and Parapara. Another seven sites were part of the 54 "stretch targets". They are: Puponga, Tadmor Glenhope, Awaroa Bay, Woodstock, Stanley Brook, Redwood Park and Eighty Eight Valley.

This Saturday, depending on fine weather, I am organising a working bee at an ex-cyclone Gita residential property that is showing slow progress.
I require up to 10 volunteers to assist in clearing vines, dirt from around house and trees, and other small tasks. Ideally some volunteers can bring their own wheelbarrows, and all dirt diggers require own shovels.
This superannuant needs her life back!
LET'S HELP HER BACK INTO HER HOME project.
